NORTHERN BEACHES of Sydney & parts of North Shore
Successfully hanging pictures and heavy mirrors so they continue to stay up, comes from plenty of experience and knowing construction techniques. Getting matched sets of prints to line up is more difficult than people first realise. The hanging wire on every item stretches differently and is usually attached at differing heights on the back of the frame, even on matching items.
Varying allowances for differing stretch and connection points needs special attention. Handy Work has invested in equipment to make it quick, efficient and mess free, while ensuring the final display is sturdy and safe. Some of the specialised tools and materials Handy Work use for this work include:
Laser level
German made dust extraction system to remove dust at the wall, while we drill, not after it has fallen to the carpet below.
Wall cavity scanner to find structural members like studs, while avoiding electrical cables and water pipes
Specialty Masonry Drill (again German made) with both variable hammer and variable speed for accurate, fast and clean drilling.
Picture hooks specially designed to make locating hanging wire easy.
Challenges we have mastered include:
Having the tools and know-how to find structural members behind plaster confidently, using expensive wall scanners so that items over 10kg can be hung safely.
Specialty wall fixings for plaster only hanging (when it is essential, for perhaps aesthetic reasons) up to 20kg.
Adjusting fixing heights so that all pictures hang at the same height. Essential for matched sets.
Dust Free installation methodology.
Your artwork and expensive mirrors are worth hanging right.

Hang Mirror on a Plaster Wall - Curl Curl
While not a difficult mirror to hang, the short video below shows that like all mirrors it was heavy and needed structural support, in this case through screwing into a wall stud.
Multiple Artwork Rails in Bookshop - Beecroft
An owner of a successful book shop is a keen collector of artwork and drawings and wanted to display 20 to 30 of them at a time on the walls above the bookshelves in his store. Handy Work installed timber rails on the wall so that a standardised and simple hook mounting system could be used so that he or his staff could rotate art on display with relative ease.
